SEIS & EIS Eligibility Checker

These questions apply to both SEIS and EIS. You must answer yes to both to be eligible for either scheme.
Is your company incorporated and tax resident in the UK?
Does your company carry on a qualifying trade?
Excluded activities include banking, insurance, property development, farming, hotels, legal and financial services, and energy generation receiving subsidised tariffs.
SEIS is for very early-stage companies. Investors receive 50% income tax relief on investments up to £200,000 per investor.
Does your company have fewer than 25 full-time equivalent employees?
Are your gross assets below £350,000 before the investment?
Is your company within 3 years of its first commercial sale (or incorporation if no sale yet)?
Has your company previously raised investment under EIS or through a VCT?
Companies that have already received EIS or VCT funding cannot use SEIS.
EIS is available to a wider range of companies. Investors receive 30% income tax relief on investments up to £1 million per year.
Does your company have fewer than 250 full-time equivalent employees?
Are your gross assets below £15 million immediately before the investment?
Is your company within 7 years of its first commercial sale?
Knowledge-intensive companies may qualify up to 10 years from first commercial sale.
Is your company unlisted (not on a recognised stock exchange)?
